Mechanical vacuum regulators use a control knob to set the desired vacuum level and vacuum control is achieved mechanically by controlling flow to maintain the set vacuum. Electronic vacuum regulators are set through an input control voltage (typically 0 to 5 volts) and vacuum is adjusted electrically by precisely controlling valves to maintain the desired vacuum setting.
